Where are you stuck?
It might be because you are not managing your PACK effectively!
You’re stuck because of systems, you’ve got an amazing team, product or service, but you feel like you have your head stuck and can’t perform like you’re built for (like the leopard in the image)
One framework that I’ve used effectively is what I call PACK MANAGEMENT.
What systems and processes do you have in place to effectively manage your pack? Unless you have some of these defined, you will find yourself stuck in a cycle of that sabotages your success and profitability.
Here’s briefly what P.A.C.K. Management is:
- PRODUCTIVITY: How do you get stuff done. If you don’t have an effective way to track goals, task and projects you will not be as effective as you should be. I don’t care if it’s post-it notes on a wall, any productivity system works if you work it.
- ASSETS: How do you manage resources? Too many times assets are in disarray, so people spend way too much time looking for and losing important parts of running a business. That ultimately affect profitability. Time is wasted, and your bottom line is impacted.
- COMMUNICATION: Seems so basic, but I’ve seen it happen in organizations of every size. How do I get a hold of you? I’ve seen places where phones were on every desk, but they were never used. The best way to get a hold of someone was via Slack. Leaving a voicemail would mean that the message was never received. As an organization, you need to decide how you communicate. The tools is not as important as the commitment.
- KNOWLEDGE: Companies are destroyed by lack of knowledge. I’ve seen this more times then I can count. Someone leaves a business and 10 years of knowledge walks out the door with them. What are you doing to capture and retain the information that is important to running a business? Have you ever heard the words “They left/were promoted/got sick and nobody here knows what they do or how they do it!” If it’s not documented it will get lost.
Hope this helps you and provides you with some things to consider. It’s as effective for a startup as it is a Fortune 500 company.
If you need an outside person to come in and help your team with this, let me know.
